The Chin are of Tibet-Mongolian origin and one of 135 distinct ethnic groups in Myanmar. Most of the Chin do not have factual records of their history as they practice oral traditions. The Chin tribes are most notable for the intricate ink detail covering their faces. The practice is no longer permitted by the Burmese authorities, nor is the younger generation interested in partaking in the custom. Therefore, this part of Chin culture will soon be gone.
