Depending on whom you will ask, it is either a diver’s paradise or a trouble zone. It became more conspicuous that not only the nomadic Bajau fishermen are roaming the crystal clear waters in search of a good catch, also the Moro gang and Abu Sayyaf with his mates are. Due to governmental mischief and lousy migration control within the trib-boarder area of Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, these waters do not only cater maritime beauty to its visitors. Rumor of a next Somalia is getting louder if authorities don’t increase their border security. „Nothing travels faster than the speed of light, with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws“ (Douglas Adams). That’s most likely why tourism and piracy get all the media attention, whereas the Bajau are out of the spotlight. After all, their harsh and traditional way of life should be told. read the full story on claudiosieberphotography.com @ Sabah, Borneo © claudiosieberphotography.com *********************************************** #picoftheday #portrait #traditional #malaysia #gypsy #bestintravel #peopleinfinity #culture #travelgram #peoplescreative #nomad #travelstoke #people #destinationearth #jaw_dropping_shots #mobilemag #ig_worldphoto #bbctravel #natgeotravel #wanderlust #exploretocreate #secretplaces #lovetheworld #visualsoflife #travelstoke #travelandlife #travelphotographer #roamtheplanet

#Repost @viceasia ・・・ Together with his wife, their two children and his parents-in-law Richard dwells in "Norte" since many years. He earns just enough money to pay the bills with his job as a jeepney driver. But as the politicians aim to make the public transportation system more efficient and environmentally friendly, most jeepneys will be phased out soon, leaving tens of thousands like Richard without opportunities. Unlike rural poverty, urban poverty is highly complex and multidimensional, extending beyond the deficiency of earnings. Along with a fast-rising population, the Philippines’ megalopolises are facing a steady influx of people out-migrating from the Barangays in the countryside, causing a tremendous housing shortage and squattering of public places. Thus the urban poor usually scouts for a refuge anywhere there is space: along streets, in parks, under road overpasses, and most bizarrely – in the graveyards. As a result, the cemeteries in Metro Manila are often home to not only the dead but also to the living. Since the late 50s, the living population within the 54 acres of Manila’s North Cemetery started to flourish with several generations hit by poverty moving into their family crypts and sleeping alongside the deceased remains of their loved ones. Today, the avenues of the 115 years old cemetery are bustling with activities of any ordinary neighborhood. *********************************************** Hi, my name is Claudio, I’m a Swiss photojournalist visualising controversial topics from the Asian Pacific region. www.claudiosieberphotography.com *********************************************** #foodforthought #documentaryphotography #photojournalism #documentary #storytelling #Manila #extraordinary #cemetery #change #reportage #fareast #inequality #urban #world #humanity #home #worldpressphoto #everydayasia #photostory cc @worldpressphoto @oxfaminternational @everydayasia
What's your preferred mode of transport? *********************************************** Taiwan's public transportation system has a great reputation for its efficiency and convenience. On the streets and highways, buses are literally everywhere. It is the cheapest way to explore Taiwan. But still, many commuters prefer scooters to get from the outskirts into Taipei downtown, making the morning rush hour a somewhat polarious event. www.claudiosieberphotography.com *********************************************** #urban #urbanjungle #photojournalism #streetphotography #street #streetmagazine #zonestreet #citykillerz #taipei #citygrammers #rush #peopleinframe #fareast #taiwan #streetstyle #transition #commute #world #bizarre #everydayasia #travelphotography #streetscene #gramslayers #asia #urbanromantix #streetphotographerscommunity cc @everydayasia @streets_vision @streetphotographerscommunity
