Bio

Hi, I’m Claudio. My nomadic explorations changed not only my life dramatically, but also the way I observe things. I’m convinced that photography is an universal language – and perhaps the most seductive of all art forms, as it helps to exalt our world consciousness, and might even lead the way to a more tolerant society. As a wandering photojournalist I strive to envision topics which I believe go beyond western imagination. I find myself becoming more and more jaded with unusual photo essays. Being well aware of the ongoing modernization I’ve set my focus on extraordinary traditions and strange lifestyles all over Asia.

#Repost @silkair with @make_repost ・・・ On 23 Nov this year, the full moon sky above Taunggyi in northern Myanmar will be lit up by huge fire balloons. This visual spectacle is part of the Tazaungdaing Festival, also known as the Festival of Lights, and is in honour of a mythical pagoda in heaven. Masking for sugar's sake @ Bacolod - The city of smile Today "MassKara" is one of the most recognizable Filipino celebrations. Born at a time of tragedy and economic dislocation, the MassKara Festival is a collective declaration of hope against all odds by the people of Bacolod City. On the year the passenger vessel MV/ Don Juan sank, and the sugar industry (Negros Occidental’s monocrop) collapsed, the people of Bacolod City led by its artist, civic citizens and local officials decided to rally and celebrate, to declare they will survive no matter what. Amidst the doom and gloom, they decided to put on smiling masks and dance in the streets. www.claudiosieberphotography.com *********************************************** #picoftheday #traditional #philippines #earthfocus #humanrace #roamtheplanet #culture #travelphotography #natgeo #ig_global_people #performance #portrait #people_infinity #photojournalism #traditional #aroundtheworldpics #ig_worldphoto #journey #worldcaptures #colorful #masskara #mask @terramatermag @geomagazin @natgeo @natgeotravel

*** With the insect tribe of Swagup, Upper Sepik, Papua New Guinea*** The Swagup people, also called the „insect tribe“ are fierce crocodile hunters. Stanley (30 years old) works on his "soft wood" canoe without any sketch, this skill has been handed on from generation to generation. His canoe will be used for hunting crocodiles and fishing. It will take him approximately 1 month to finish it. He could finish it in 4 days but he's not in a hurry. www.claudiosieberphotography.com *********************************************** #picoftheday #traditional #papua #pacific #earthfocus #humanrace #roamtheplanet #culture #travelphotography #natgeo #png #ig_global_people #harvest #handicraft #people_infinity #photojournalism #traditional #aroundtheworldpics #ig_worldphoto #tribe #remote #journey #worldcaptures @terrax @terramatermag @geomagazin @world_shotz @remotexpeditions
***The crocodile festival Sepik region*** Ambunti, Papua New Guinea Known as one of the largest rivers in the Asia-Pacific region the Sepik River is home to huge freshwater and saltwater crocodile populations. The Sepik River Crocodile Festival highlights the importance of the crocodile and its cultural significance to the people of the Sepik River. www.claudiosieberphotography.com *********************************************** #picoftheday #traditional #papua #pacific #earthfocus #humanrace #roamtheplanet #culture #travelphotography #natgeo #png #ig_global_people #performance #portrait #people_infinity #photojournalism #traditional #aroundtheworldpics #ig_worldphoto #tribe #remote #journey #worldcaptures @terrax @terramatermag @geomagazin
***Harvesting Mustard Sticks in order to prepare PNG's main addiction - Buai (beetle nut)*** Swagup Village. Upper Sepik. Whilst the women go fishing, the men do their garden work. They mostly plant cacao, sweet potato, vanilla (for export), coconuts and of course the highly addictive beetle nuts. Moses is getting some mustard sticks straight from the tree top. In Papua New Guinea, the popularity of the psychoactive betel nut is on the rise. Once reserved for sacred events, now almost half of Papua New Guineans chew betel nut. It is common for children as young as six to chew it, and addicts admit using the drug every day from morning to night. The chewing of betel nut, the seed of the Areca palm, is common across Asia and the Pacific. In Papua New Guinea, where it is known locally as "buai", it is consumed with a mustard stick dipped in slaked lime powder. www.claudiosieberphotography.com *********************************************** #picoftheday #traditional #papua #pacific #earthfocus #humanrace #roamtheplanet #culture #travelphotography #natgeo #png #ig_global_people #harvest #climbing #people_infinity #photojournalism #traditional #aroundtheworldpics #ig_worldphoto #tribe #remote #journey #worldcaptures @terrax @terramatermag @geomagazin
